Empowering Independence Through Cooking: Our Recent Class at Dietitian’s Kitchen
At Dietitian’s Kitchen, we believe that cooking is more than just preparing food—it’s about empowering individuals to take control of their health, independence, and social connections. This philosophy was at the heart of our recent cooking class, held in our commercial kitchen under the cooking instructor guidance of Charmmy, an accredited practicing dietitian with a deep passion for food.
A Cooking Class for NDIS Participants
We were thrilled to welcome the participants, each eager to learn new skills in the kitchen. The class was designed not only to teach practical cooking skills—like chopping and pan-frying—but also to empower our participants, helping them gain confidence in the kitchen and increase their independence in daily tasks.

What We Cooked Together
In this session, we focused on creating a healthy, delicious meal from scratch. The menu featured:
Roasted Vegetables with Pan-Fried Scotch Fillet: A hearty and nutritious main course that taught participants the importance of balance and portion control.
Sugar-Free Apple Crumble: A dessert that satisfied sweet cravings without added sugar, highlighting the possibilities of healthy eating.

Learning, Connecting, and Enjoying
But this class was about more than just cooking. It was an opportunity for participants to meet new friends, learn about healthy eating, and practice portion size control in a supportive and fun environment. After preparing the meal, everyone—participants and support workers alike—sat down together to enjoy the fruits of their labor. The smiles and laughter around the table were proof that good food truly brings people together.
Capturing the Moments
We captured many wonderful moments during the class, and we’re excited to share these photos with you. These snapshots not only showcase the delicious dishes we made but also the joy and camaraderie that filled the kitchen.
